Savings groups

Savings groups.
Keep a shared record.

Whether you are a savings circle, a growers’ group or a trade group, preparing meetings and recording money helps you discuss what you agreed.

What to agree together.

  1. 01

    Purpose and rules

Write down your goal, meeting schedule, agreed contributions and how you make decisions or resolve a problem.

  2. 02

    Clear responsibilities

Agree who records, counts and checks. Give members a way to read and confirm entries that concern them.

  3. 03

    A record for each movement

Record the date, contributions received, money paid out and its purpose. Keep payment evidence where those responsible have agreed.

  4. 04

    Review before you finish

Compare the records with the money held. Note any difference and agree how to follow it up before the next meeting.

Questions for Birunga before opening an account

  • Is a group account available, and which documents are required?
  • Who may sign, and how are signatories changed?
  • What are the charges and the options for deposits, withdrawals and account statements?
  • Who should we contact about a problem or an unapproved transaction?
Prepare your questions

The group agrees its rules; Birunga confirms suitable account availability and requirements. Do not put PINs, passwords or identity-document numbers in records shared with everyone.
