Stay safe

Safer money starts
with a pause.

Your PIN and OTP are private.

Do not give them to a caller, someone claiming to be staff or a person offering help. Do not enter them on this website.

01 / PRACTISE SPOTTING THE SIGNS

What would
you do?

Open each example to see a safer next step. These scenarios are fictional learning examples.

“Give me your OTP or your account will close.”

End the conversation. Do not share the code or follow the supplied link. Independently find a verified contact and ask whether there is a problem.

A message says you were paid, but the money is absent.

Confirm receipt through your usual trusted channel before handing over goods. A screenshot or message alone is not enough proof that you received money.

“Pay this personal number to unlock your loan.”

Pause before paying. Ask the SACCO how applications work and which verified channel accepts any legitimate required charge.

02 / HAS SOMETHING HAPPENED?

Stop.
Report. Keep evidence.

  1. 01

    Stop further interaction

Do not share more codes or pay someone who promises to recover the lost money.

  2. 02

    Contact the provider involved

Use a verified contact for the SACCO, bank or mobile provider involved. Ask them to stop unauthorised access and explain the recovery process.

  3. 03

    Keep an incident record

Keep dates, messages and payment evidence. Do not place codes, account numbers or sensitive documents in this site’s general enquiry draft.
